I’m so excited. I’m going to see The Gold Rush with live orchestra music in a theater. I always wanted to see a Chaplin movie on a big screen. Can’t wait for april!
Otto Hermann Kahn (February 21, 1867 – March 29, 1934) was an investment banker, collector, philanthropist, and patron of the arts.
source: Wikipedia
Otto Kahn was philanthropist, who supported the arts, including motion pictures. Charlie Chaplin was a friend and guest to his mansion/castle in Long Island NY on occasions in the late 20’s. The renovated mansion known as OHEKA Castle (now open for tours) has a small pub dedicated to the memory of Charlie Chaplin, almost all of the wall space is covered by pictures, illustrations and other memorabilia of Chaplin.
The room is nothing short of a shrine to Charlie Chaplin.
Oh I wish I still lived in NJ, I Lived close to Long Island:( - though not today as it is snowing, it’s warm & sunny here in Florida.

Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin
Happy Birthday, Buster!
(via mountvesilvius)
I really like this picture. Charlie was such a good-looking man. But compared to Buster he looks even more handsome, I think. His face looks so soft and friendly. I could instantly fall in love with him!
Almost exactly what I love about Charlie. The hair! The eyes! The smile! Glad I am not the only one here to find him totally handsome. I also love that he had such a versatile mimic without overacting. He could show so many different emotions with just a little look. And you could see his emotions even with his back turned towards the camera.30 DAY CHARLIE CHAPLIN CHALLENGE
DAY 12
Favorite feature/thing about Charlie
Eyes – Capture his spirit, his eyes were the windows to his soul
Smile – Beautiful and contagious
Hair – Wild and sexy
Humanity he encompassed the everyman as “the tramp” and empathized with the people that were struggling to make a living as Charles Chaplin.
Courage – Making the film The Great Dictator – making that film at a time when people esp in the USA not wanting to be involved with the war in Europe, many people were against Charlie making this film fearing he would insite Hitler, He went ahead making a complete fool out of Hitler the most evil man to walk the face of the earth. I don’t make light of this movie and when I watch it especially the final speech I think about the atrocity that was forseen in this movie, Charlie said many times had he known what he was truly capable of he could never have made this film.
Inspiring – I went through a difficult time physically and emotionally at the beginning of the year, that is when I found Chaplin and when I started learning more about him and how no matter what he confronted he always persevered as the tramp and the man, life was always worth embracing and that is what his films and his life were all about.
Free Spirit -he answered to know one and no matter how long it took he made the films and music that he wanted and they are still embraced decades later.
Artistry _ he fascinates me with the ability with a little bit of make, mustache and a costume he becomes 2 totally different human beings the everyman “the tramp” strugging through life and the man Charles Chaplin, they looked nothing alike and their personalities very unique, when people met Charles Chaplin they expected “the tramp”
He is an Icon, a Legend and For The Ages
I have two books, Charlie’s autobiography and the biography by David Robinson. Plus I’m waiting for an illustrated book which will likely arrive tomorrow.
I have a lot of DVDs with almost all of Charlie’s movies and the “Unknown Chaplin” documentary.
I’m just starting to collect Chaplin things, I am trying to find a nice figurine for my office at the moment.
I also have a wall tattoo with Charlie’s silhouette and a quote. And last but not least I have this wonderful little crocheted puppet. I have posted pictures of both earlier.
The way the Tower fell was scary as fuck. Look, it didn’t just break off, it crashed down as if it was a domino effect, floor by floor. There were people in that building. Take a moment out of your day and reblog this for the people who saved lives that day and for the poor souls who didn’t make it.
Ten years have gone by and it still hurts to see the pictures.
The Kid. Makes me cry tears of joy and sorrow. Charlie put a lot of feeling into that movie.

FAVORITE ROMANTIC FILM
CITY LIGHTS 1931
AFI’s 10 Top 10 - Romantic Comedy
#1 CITY LIGHTS - 1931
AFI defines “romantic comedy” as a genre in which the development of a romance leads to comic situations
This is my favorite romantic movie as well. Though I always feel sorry for the little fellow when the Flower Girl and her friend make fun of him shortly before the Flower Girl recognizes Charlie as her savior.
